The role of E. Pihl & Søn A.S. in NYOP SPV is that of a Design & Build Contractor (turnkey contractor). The project involves construction of seven new primary schools, two new secondary schools, renovation of one primary school and renovation of a sports centre. The total floor area of 67,600 m² is distributed over the eight primary schools of 2.900 m² to 5.900 m², two schools (seventh to tenth classes) of 18,900 m²/13,100 m² respectively. The project also includes the refurbishment of a sports centre of 3,600 m².

Reinforced concrete foundation executed as a basement construction. Complex steel structures as cantilever at both ends. Facades of Jura natural stones placed partly on steel frames and partly on pre-manufactured concrete elements. Apart from traditional inside works, the following types of work are also to be carried out: a very long concrete winding stairway, large glass sections in gable ends as well as paving with granite in a large outdoor area. The project also includes electrical and mechanical works.

Design of quay and storage yard. Earthworks consist of excavation of about 280,000 m³ soil of which 80% is expected reused for end-user's new storage and office areas.
Construction of dike, protected by stones, begins from land until new quay. Pile wall will be constructed by a combination of HZ and AZ profiles. Concurrently with sheet piling, executed from the landside, the new area will be filled with the excavated material. Subsequent concrete works, totally about 2.600 m³, will commence at the quay incl. depth compacting, etc. The piles will be driven down to about 25 m. Deepening of the port down to 12.8 m will be initiated upon completion of the piling. The water depths vary from 2 to 4 m at the time of start up of the project. Completed areas are to be compacted and geo-textile and gravel will be placed. Finally, various ladders, bollards and fenders will be installed on the quay and the project can be considered completed.

On 15 June 2009 the new domicile of the Carl Aller Etablissement will be adorning the northern part of Havneholmen in Copenhagen. PIHL has as a turnkey contractor been entrusted with this challenging project. The architects behind the new building are PLH Arkitekter and the building forms part of the master plan previously prepared by the architects Wingård Arkitektkontor. Totally 18,000 m² are distributed on nine storeys. Add to this a basement of 10,000 m² The inner atrium is terraced to create a beautiful connection to the quay just as the many glass sections of the building will reflect the sky as well as the water surface inside the building.

The project comprises an extension of the existing quay at Luba, Equatorial Guinea, for the client Luba Freeport Ltd. The quay is constructed as a double-anchored sheet pile wall consisting of 325 tons piles and 73 top- and bottom anchors. Fill will amount to 15-20,000 m³ and a little more than 1,900 m³ concrete will be cast. The entire quay must be completed in four and a half months.

The Project consists of the construction of two hydropower plants on the Changuinola River in the Bocas del Toro Province in Panama. The main power plant is 207 MW and the second plant, which utilizes the ecological flow, is 9.4 MW. The works to be executed are: an access road, asphalt paved, approx. 18 km long incl. two bridges, 60 m and 160 m long respectively. An RCC (Roller Compacted Concrete) dam, approx. 90 metres high, RCC volume approx. 900,000 m³ incl. diversion structure and gated as well as ungated spillways with a total capacity of 8,600 m³/sec. The reservoir capacity is approx. 320 mill. m³. The water intake structure consists of an approx. 4.3 km long concrete-lined tunnel. Wet area of 60 m² with surge facilities. Underground steel penstock and bifurcation. A surface power station equipped with 2 of sets turbines/generators, 103.5 MW each, supplied and installed by Alstom Brazil. Switchyard and sub-station and approx. 10 km transmission line. The second power plant, situated downstream of the dam, is a surface plant equipped with one set turbine/generator of 9.4 MW. Own production: all works except access road and mechanical and electrical works.

The residential area of "Askholm" will be built as an island in the new channel town of Sluseholmen. The works comprise 70 privately owned flats constructed in seven storeys. The block consists of two types of dwellings: channel houses (24 units) and quay houses (46 units). The channel houses are independent estates, which are narrow and cosy. Each building consists of two separate dwellings; each of them has two storeys. The lower dwellings have their own boat and bathing jetty and their own atrium towards the yard. The upper dwellings have their own roof terrace. The quay houses are erected near the pier towards the north and the south and will have up to seven storeys. There will be parking facilities in the basement under the block. All apartments in the quay houses have their own terrace or balcony/roof terrace. The rest of the dwellings will be let.

Improvement / reconstruction of 100 km of Northern Coastal Highway from Ocho Rios to Port Antonio, Jamaica. On 30 km of the road base improvement has been carried out whilst on the remaining 70 km complete reconstruction of the road has been performed, either on existing alignment or on new alignment. In urban areas, and where required, kerbs and gutters are constructed instead of shoulders. Numerous curve widenings, bus turnouts and right turn lanes have been constructed to alleviate congestion. The new pavement consists of hot-mix asphalt concrete layer upon a new base or improved base. Construction of 8 new bridge structures and rehabilitation and repair of further 21 bridges. All existing pipe and box culverts replaced or improved total 130 box culverts and 422 pipe culverts, along with all traffic control devices and informational signs.

The renovation works include replacement of roofs, mounting of new facades on existing concrete elements, replacement of windows and doors, replacement of perimeter drains and drains around the buildings and renovation of lavatories and bathrooms. A new floor will be added on four of the blocks to accommodate new two-room penthouses. A number of the single-room flats will be changed into flats of two rooms divided on two floors. Lifts will be installed in the staircase area. The renovation project comprises 13 blocks of dwellings constituting a total of 347 flats. All flats will be inhabited during the entire renovation period. Pihl holds the option for executing similar works in the fourth phase of the project.

The renovation includes lowering of platforms, extension of platforms, box girder and apron bridges. Two of the existing platforms of a length of approx. 475 m will be lowered by 14 to 20 cm. Further, two platforms are extended by 55 and 70 cm respectively. The work of reinforcing the box girder will primarily be carried out from underneath. The project also includes renovation of the apron bridge and the bridge parallel with the street, traction current plant and various reconstruction works.

Also included in the project are two four-storey blocks primarily to be used for educational purposes connected by a continuous panoptic room. 1.2 Area: The University Park is built in an area called Siaqqineq North, situated to the northwest of the present Institute for Natural Sciences close to recreational areas. The construction area, having a slight inclination towards the northwest, is easily asseccible and close to the road leading to the airport.

The project involves a complete removal of the existing quay wall structures built in 1990 in the centre of Zanzibar Town, Stone Town. Cope of existing wharfs is approx. 400 m and water depth in front varies from 7 to 11 m. The port is presently handling approx. 90% of all traffic in and out of Zanzibar Island including a large number of passenger ferries. Main scope is: design and construction of sheet pile wall, deck and piles must be taken down and removed (deck 9,200 m2, piles 543 pcs.), casting of edge beam on top of the piles (400 m), backfill with sand (70,000 m3) and paving of the area with concrete blocks (10,000 m2). Dredging of approx. 25,000 m3 for the relocated ferry basin.
